Iconological programs of graphic series devoted to the Golden Ring
Abstract. The article deals with the main series of Soviet graphics, visualizing the objects of the Golden Ring tourist route. It is argued that these images have contributed to the comprehension of this route as revealing not only the distant past, but also the contemporary state of central Russia. The detailed analysis of symbolism, image perspective, compositional and stylistic solutions unambiguously points to the prevalence in this graphic of the idea of independent industrial development of the region, the close link of crafts and industrial production in the framework of the geographical stratification of the region. The images of Russian antiquity and Russian literature in these graphical works show not so much the mass of heritage as the ability of any local heritage to be actualized as part of the contemporary production of symbols and meanings.
Key words: Golden Ring tourist route, graphics, postcard, heritage representation, iconology, folk crafts.
