The Russian Empire in the Middle East in the 1st half of the 19th century: diplomacy, religion, and pilgrimage

Abstract. The author has set himself the task of presenting the diplomatic activity of the Russian Empire in the Middle East in the 1st half of the 19th century to support the universal Orthodoxy of Russian pilgrims in the Holy Land. The presented period is divided into two parts, each of which is related to the activities of the Emperors Alexander I and Nicholas I, as well as the effective work of the leaders and employees of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire.
