The diary of Elizaveta Diakonova as a source on the history of gender in Russia

Abstract. Elizaveta Diakonova is the author of the diary, one of the first feminists in Russia. An analysis of the text shows that her diary contains more than 100 references to death. It’s the idea of death that runs through the diary. The analysis shows deaths reflections allow to answer the question related to the elimination of gender stereotypes and to the possibility of revealing the meaning of one of the most interesting sources in the history of gender. The answer to the question of what might have been the real cause of disenchantment in life is contained in the diary which explains everything that happened to the author.The article describes a number of reasons that led E.A. Diakonova to address the topic of death.
