About one little-known fact from the fate of Plyushkin’s collection
Abstract. The Imperial Russian Museum of Alexander III has been trying to buy the famous collection of Fyodor Mikhailovich Plyushkin since the beginning of the 20th century. The press wrote about this, and in Wikipedia there is the link to the magazine “Zhivaya starina” (1911, issue 2). However, the deal fell through. Plyushkin accused museum representatives of dishonest behavior. The newspaper “Russkoe Slovo” wrote about this. The editor of the newspaper was brought to criminal liability for this publication.
Key words: Fedor Mikhailovich Plyushkin, collection, corruption, museum, censorship, defamation, fraud, duplicate bill of lading, Fedor Blagov, Anatoly Reinbot.
