Image of the Great Victory in the spatial-symbolic structure
of the cities of Western Siberia
Abstract. The article analyzes architectural and town-planning projects, transformations of cities of the West Siberian region, which are considered as a symbolic space of urban culture. The author analyzes branch visual sources in order to reconstruct the perceptions of architects of the post-war decade. The main theme in architectural design is the preservation of historical memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The decade has seen a paradigm shift from solving utilitarian problems to sacralizing the Triumph of Victory in the space of the city. A number of previously unpublished sources are introduced into the scientific turnover. Post-war romance for architects became an opportunity to express sentiments, but the realization of large-scale projects was influenced by economic difficulties.
