State regulation of pilgrimage travel in the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century
Abstract. The article discusses the issues of state regulation of pilgrimages in the Russian Empire and abroad in the first half of the XIX century. The main legal documents are presented, on the basis of which Russian people could legally travel to the holy places of Russia and Ecumenical Orthodoxy during this period. The author considers the activities of Russian diplomatic institutions in organizing assistance to pilgrims from Russia in the Ottoman Empire.
