Traditional culture in the modern history of Chukotka
Abstract. This material is a review on the English-language edition of the album «Hope - the race on the edge of the earth. 1991-2014» which was published in 2015 under the editorship of Doctor of Biological Sciences E.S.Bogoslovskaya.
The first part of the album is a chronicle of Arctic sled dog race «Hope», the second part is dedicated to the history and achievements of the expedition «Transarctic-2006» - the first one in human history stand-alone (without support from the outside) expedition to the North Pole by dogsled. The third tells about the culture of dog sledding in Eastern Chukotka: about the formation of teams, dog-keeping, mushers clothes, sleds and harnesses, as well as about the tradition of the use of sled dogs.
