Features of the Museumification of Fortification Complexes on the Example of the Smolensk Fortress

Abstract. The article is dedicated to the ensembles of Smolenskiy region that include earth and brick fortifications illustrating Russian, Holland, and Italian fortification systems. The document analyses the historico-cultural features of the museumification of the Smolensk fortress as well as highlighted the main advantages of the appearance of museums that are located in monuments of fortification architecture.
