Religion and civilization: the understanding of religion in the philosophy of history of A.J.Toynbee in the context of the civilizational approach
Abstract. The article deals with the relationship between the concepts of religion and civilization in the philosophical and historical conception of Arnold Toynbee. The difference in approaches to the solution of the question addressing the relationship between religion and civilization of early and late Toynbee is shown. Analyzing the views of Toynbee, the author proves that the key idea of the author of «A study of history» is the discrepancy between the civilizational and religious dimension of the historical space.
