Fossilized dugouts from Liskinskiy district, Voronezh region
Abstract. A unique archaeological find, a large dugout was discovered in 1954 at the Middle Don River area.The history of its discovery, fieldwork,conservation and exhibiting are outlined. The key role at all stages belonged to M.E. Foss, who did her best to unearth and preserve the dugout. A review of three other dugout finds, made in Volonezh region are discussed as well. The AMS-radiocarbon dating of three existing dugouts is planned for the near future.
