One step forward, two steps back? On the problems of scientific, methodological and educational support for the course “Foundations of Russian statehood»

Abstract. The article provides a critical analysis of the scientific, methodological and educational support of the course “Foundations of Russian Statehood”. The author demonstrates the fundamental contradictions between theoretical and methodological approaches to the formation of course content based on the concept of “worldview Pentabasis”, approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and the official views of the Russian Federation on the issues of preserving the country’s civilizational identity, civil identity, all-Russian cultural identity and protection national interests. According to the author’s conclusions, these contradictions seriously affected the content of teaching aids and teaching materials published in 2023. In all manuals and educational-methodological complex there is a rollback from the official concept of the Russian state-civilization, which has an integral, synthetic character and is designed to overcome the historical differences between “Slavophiles” and “Westerners”, “soilists” and “Eurasians”, to a state of competition between various doctrines and approaches. The training course “Fundamentals of Russian Statehood” ignores or distorts generally accepted theoretical and legal approaches to understanding the phenomena of “statehood,” “nationwide code,” and “all-Russian civil identity.” It is postulated that modern Russian society does not have a historically formed identity, which has yet to be formed on the basis of “Pentabasis”. The refusal to consider the official views of the Russian Federation, expressed in strategic planning documents, as the basis of the training course is a key problem in the scientific, methodological and educational support of the course “Foundations of Russian Statehood”.

Key words: Russian Statehood, state-civilization, Russian culture, official views of the Russian Federation, Pentabasis, all-Russian civil identity, civilizational approach, cultural policy.
