Making clay dishes in Lyskovo
in the second half of the 19th – 20th centuries
Abstract. The article analyzes for the first time new facts and materials on the history of clay dishesmaking in the city of Lyskovo, Nizhny Novgorod region in the second half of the XIX – XX century. At the same time, the authors considered various aspects of production: the presence of clay deposits, the forms of organizations of craftsmen and technologies, the range of products and their artistic features. The study of various sources found on the topic – clothing and written ones – allowed us to conclude that in Lyskovo the scale of pottery production was small compared to other centers in the Nizhny Novgorod region, however, unique objects of ritual tableware with complex ornamentation were created here, which appeared under the influence of imported goods from the Makaryevskaya fair.
Key words: clay dishes, pottery culture, Nizhny Novgorod region, Lyskovo, Nizhny Novgorod museum-reserve.
