Museums-reserves of Russia:
historical and cultural features

Abstract. The article examines the history of the creation of museum-reserves in Russia, approaches to their formation, formation as legal entities vested with powers to ensure the preservation, maintenance, study, and popularization of memorial sites. A comparative analysis is conducted and historical and cultural features of some museum-reserves are highlighted. On this basis, a conclusion is made about the exceptional complexity of the spatial structure of the system of museum-reserves and landmarks of the Russian Federation.
