Cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Russia
in the museum studies in Vietnam (1991–2025)
Abstract. The article analyzes cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in the museum sector during the period from 1991 to 2025. The aim of the study is to identify historical, political, and cultural factors that have shaped and promoted museum relations between the two countries. The research examines Vietnam–Russia cultural exchange and cooperation in the field of museum activities through bilateral cooperation agreements, exhibitions, collection exchanges, joint projects, inter‑museum interactions between the two nations, as well as collaboration with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Hanoi to expand museum-related activities. The issues of Vietnam–Russia cultural exchange in the museum sphere have not been thoroughly explored in either Russian or Vietnamese sources. The study is based on materials from the official websites of governmental bodies and cultural organizations, as well as from the press, with the aim of identifying key trends in the development of Russia–Vietnam relations in the museum field. The findings demonstrate that cultural cooperation in the museum sector plays an important role in preserving historical memory, promoting cultural heritage, enhancing mutual understanding, and fostering the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The research shows that the potential for cooperation in the museum sphere between the two countries is immense.
Keywords: Russian culture in Vietnam, museums of Vietnam, exhibitions, museum cooperation, Vietnam–Russia relations, comprehensive strategic partnership.
