Network culture in the context of two approaches to research issues

Abstract. Based on the analysis of two approaches, the paper clarifies the basic positions of the theoretical concept of network culture. From the perspective of the socio-anthropological approach, network culture is presented as a new type of culture generated by the conditions of the emerging network society, and as a set of cultural practices that differ in the target settings of network users, in a set of unifying values, and in the models of communication. It is shown that culture in a networked society is diverse, and different strata struggle and coexist in it, differing in generational and qualification parameters of their bearers, and in the degree of readiness of individual structures of society to switch to network principles of organization. From the point of view of a narrower approach, network culture is represented by a set of digitized creative content, as well as created directly in a network format by professional and amateur authors. It is concluded that online culture as a whole suffers from distortions and imbalances, which sets the task for cultural studies to further study the conditions and directions of its development in various areas of social activity, as well as to select the most successful creative projects for the analysis and dissemination of positive experiences.

Key words: network society, network culture, network content, communicative network practices, cultural practices in a network form, network communities, amateur network creativity
