The millennial tradition of Russian Orthodox pilgrimage to Mount Athos
Abstract. The article discusses the millennial tradition of Russian Orthodox pilgrimage to the Holy Mountain Athos, which began in the X century and continues to the present time. The author presents an overview of the most important pilgrimages of the Russian people in Svyatogorsk monasteries, carried out over ten centuries. This paper analyzes the reasons of temporary suspension and resumption of Russian pilgrimage to mount Athos in different periods of history, pious journeys to the Holy Mountain.
