Abstract. The Part 1of the ‘Code of Objects of the Underwater Cultural Heritage’ was prepared by A. Okorokov and covers the region of the Black and Azov Seas. The review notes the significance of the publication in the search, fixing and systematization of underwater cultural heritage of Russia, its role as a scientific basis for the formation of a state mechanism for recording, protecting and using the national underwater cultural heritage.
