Return of the Church Slavonic language to the being of the nation

Abstract. The literary process is a process of national self-awareness. As a man thinks in words, so people think in literature. One can argue that literature is the basis of civilization, for as a person and the world around him are comprehended, so they are described – beyond literature there is no civilization. The uniqueness of our Russian civilization, its originality, its distinctiveness from all others, lies in the fact that it is based on two languages at the same time–the everyday and the sacred languages. The return of the Church Slavonic language to the existence of the nation is a necessity: why are we talking about a more than a thousand-year history of our statehood, but the history of our literature is being quashed in three hundred years? The beauty and purity of native speech, the sacred immutability of verbal meanings, the understanding of the soul and the sympathy of writers and readers through the centuries can be revealed only while studying the Slavonic language. The very technique of «chanting» church reading awakens the genetic memory. Introduction into the general educational program of the foundations of the Church Slavonic language, as a basis for studying Russian literature, is the task of the state.

Key words: Russian civilization, the Church Slavonic language, being of the nation.
