The problem of 'consciousness' in the modern sociocultural situation: from culture to technologies of manipulation of mass consciousness

Abstract. The article reveals the problems of consciousness that are so relevant today; defines consciousness and self-consciousness; reveals the main negative trends taking place today in this regard in the modern socio-cultural system; examines the phenomena of «false consciousness» and «clip consciousness» – so typical today, purposefully formed by a mega-machine manipulation of mass consciousness. All of the above trends are being carried out systematically and purposefully today in the mode of transhumanism ideology. The article also reveals the current trends of systemic substitution of culture, as a system of higher values and meanings, and above all, as points of intensity of consciousness and self-consciousness of a person, for the totality of technologies of manipulation of mass consciousness, with their set of simulacra, stereotypes and attitudes.

Key words: consciousness, self-consciousness, culture, manipulation of mass consciousness, false consciousness, clip consciousness.
