Orientalism in painting and culture of Central Asia: collection of the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I.Savitsky
Abstract. The article examines the cultural concept of orientalism by E. Said on the example of the collection presented at the I.V. Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakia. Special attention is paid to the contribution of artists who worked in Central Asia to the emergence and development of the cultural identity of the region. The work presents art associations, institutions and their participants that existed on the territory of the Uzbek SSR at the beginning of the XX century, and influenced the development of the artistic life of the country.
