Open-air museums and museum-park complexes: Genesis and Approaches to classification
Abstract. This article publishes the preliminary results of a study conducted at the Development of museum expositions of the Russian Heritage Institute. It is addressed to the analysis of formal and informal museum and park complexes, which synthesize museum and park functions in their public space. The aim of this article is to show the differences and similarities between different types of open-air museums (site-museum, living history museum) and parks, as well as to consider the processes of their convergence and synthesis; to propose an approach to the universal classification of various forms of conservation and actualisation of cultural landscapes.
