On the spread of stone architecture in the Arctic region.
Construction of a cathedral in the Sumskoy Fortress
Abstract. The article examines one of the mechanisms for the emergence of a local school of stone architecture in Pomorye, which was achieved through the borrowing of personnel. This chain of events was made possible by the systematic collection of information about masons in central Russia, on the one hand, and the fortunate discovery of St. Petersburg scholars, on the other.
Keywords: stone architecture, mason, 17th century, Kholmogory, Sumskoy Posad, Soligalich.
